Some fans react as Arsenal player suffers injury ‘more severe than Partey’s’

There was a double piece of bad news for Arsenal on Saturday.

The Gunners not only confirmed that Thomas Partey has suffered ankle ligament damage, ruling him out for three weeks.

But Arsenal also revealed that Eddie Nketiah will miss about a month of training with a bruised ankle sustained in the defeat by Chelsea last weekend.

And here’s how some fans of the North London club are reacting on Twitter:

Silver lining?

The good news is that it may potentially force Arsenal to step up their pursuit of a striker.

The Emirates Stadium side have been linked with Lautaro Martinez and Tammy Abraham, the latter of whom seems a lot more likely.

But Arsenal have been dithering on a number of deals this summer and the Nketiah injury is a reminder to step things up a notch.

The 22-year-old has arguably been the club’s most promising player during pre-season friendlies and even though Mikel Arteta and Edu seemingly planned to sell him regardless, the fact he’s probably now staying shouldn’t make the addition of a number nine any less of a pressing issue.
