Leeds United have today announced that Elia Caprile has left the club on loan.
The young Italian goalkeeper has returned to his homeland after signing for Aurora Pro Patria 1919 for the 2021-22 campaign.
Caprile helped Leeds Under-23 to a Premier League 2 title last season.
And even though there was a ways to go before he’s deemed good enough for Marcelo Bielsa’s senior side, a season-long stint in Serie C seems a strange move.
Here’s how some fans of the Elland Road club have reacted on Twitter:

Early promotion?
The bulk of Leeds’ summer business has centered around signing young players.
With the exception of Junior Firpo and a permanent deal for Jack Harrison, everybody else to arrive in West Yorkshire this summer has been a youth prospect.
And it looks likely that one of them – Kristoffer Klaesson – is set for an early promotion.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper was signed from Valerenga in Norway last month and with Caprile heading out, it’s probable that Klaesson will take his place at Under-23 level.
