Liverpool announced on their official website last night that Andy Robertson is set for a scan on his ankle today.
The Reds left-back went off injured during Sunday’s pre-season friendly with Athletic Bilbao at Anfield, which ended 1-1.
With Liverpool kicking off their Premier League campaign away to Norwich City on Saturday, an injury to a key player is the last thing that Jurgen Klopp needs right now.
It goes without saying that the Anfield club had rotten luck with injuries last season – particularly among defenders.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez still haven’t played a competitive game under Klopp since last October, while Joel Matip joined them on the sidelines in January.
As a result, a lot of Liverpool fans are concerned about Robertson’s issue and here’s they reacted to Sunday’s update on Twitter:
Enter Tsimikas
Suddenly, Kostas Tsimikas is a potentially huge player for Klopp.
The Greece international has impressed for Liverpool in pre-season games, but he had a first year to forget in England.
The former Olympiacos man only managed literally five minutes of Premier League football last season.
But if Robertson is set for a prolonged absence, Tsimikas’s importance grows exponentially.
