Tottenham Hotspur posted evidence of a very timely boost on Saturday evening.
Spurs kick off their Premier League season at home to reigning champions Manchester City in only seven days.
Before that, there’s a small matter of a North London derby against Arsenal today, albeit a friendly.
Yesterday, the Lilywhites revealed via footage on Twitter that Ryan Sessegnon is back in training.
Sessegnon, a £20 million signing two years ago, spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin.
The former Fulham star hasn’t kicked a ball for the North Londoners since March of 2020, but it looks like he’ll be fit for the start of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first season in charge of Tottenham.
Here’s how some fans reacted to the footage on Twitter:
This is exciting, for two reasons.
Firstly, Sessegnon is clearly a fine young player and it’ll be interesting to see how his emergence affects the dynamic of Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies.
And secondly, this is a player Nuno really likes.
According to Football London in July, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss is very excited to work with the 21-year-old, whom he tried to bring to Molineux on a number of occasions.
The idea that Nuno has previously tried to sign him indicates that he has an idea on how to get the very best out of him.
And that can only benefit Spurs.
