Aston Villa have secured their fourth signing of the summer with the return of Axel Tuanzebe on loan.
The Midlands side confirmed on their official Twitter account before today’s pre-season game against Salernitana. The Manchester United defender spent the 2018/19 season with Villa.
As Villa fans will remember, Tuanzebe was key to Dean Smith’s side clinching promotion from the Championship to the Premier League via the play-offs.
However, since returning to Manchester the England youth international has struggled to become a regular under Ole Gunna Solskjear.

Indeed, Tuanzebe was linked with a move to Newcastle United, with United eager to sell the young defender on a permanent deal this summer. However, Villa have secured the centre-back on loan.
Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa firmly asserted themselves last season as Villa’s first-choice centre-back pairing. However, Tuanzebe will no doubt aim to push himself into the starting XI.
And on social media, Villa fans on social media are buzzing that Tuanzebe is back at the club two years after departing Smith’s side following his first loan spell.
Here’s what some Villa supporters had to say about Tuanzebe returning to the club on Twitter…
