Steve Burton Tests Positive for COVID

Unfortunate news for Stone Cold and The Jackal fans — their planned August tour will have to be rescheduled because GENERAL HOSPITAL star Steve Burton (Jason) has tested positive for COVID. “I was exposed at work,” he revealed in a Facebook video. “I tested Wednesday. I tested negative. And then I wanted to take another test before I got on an airplane to be safe to come out to see your guys and then I tested positive.”

The other half of Stone Cold and The Jackal, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), is already in Boston where the first date of their tour was meant to take place, but unfortunately, Burton will be unable to join him due to contracting coronavirus. Thankfully, it appears that Burton was vaccinated, because the virus doesn’t seem to be affecting him as severely as it would if he weren’t. “I feel fine,” he reported. “I have no symptoms. Other than being really bummed that we can’t see you guys.”

Daytime was one of the first industries in Hollywood to resume production after the initial COVID lockdown, and with strict protocols in place to prevent the spread of the dangerous virus. Although many hoped that things could return to normal, the number of people choosing not to get vaccinated along with loosening restrictions and the rise of the Delta variant has caused another outbreak where positive cases are rising.

Still, Burton remains optimistic that he and Anderson will be able to get together with Stone Cold and The Jackal fans eventually. “We’ll see you guys soon,” he promised. “Sorry.”

There are no details yet on exactly how Burton contracted COVID in the GH studio or who else at the soap might also have tested positive, or how those positive test results might affect taping of future episodes. So keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for the latest updates.
