Stormzy gets close to Maya Jama lookalike before reuniting with ex at star-studded GQ afterparty

AFTER more than 18 months without a big boozy party, Stormzy was in the mood to celebrate after the Hugo Boss GQ Men Of The Year Awards.

He was in good company for that too, after being spotted flirting up a storm with a model who was the double of his ex Maya Jama.

Stormzy beamed as his mystery admirer schmoozed with him at the boozy after-party at the Tate Modern on Wednesday night.

An onlooker said: “Stormzy was getting a lot of female attention at the party but there only seemed to be one woman who caught his eye.

“They spent time chatting and flirting in the smoking shelter where Stormzy was hanging out with his mates. She was very tactile and made it clear she was into him. Stormzy seemed to be enjoying the attention and women were flocking to be with him.”

I’m surprised Stormzy wasn’t seeing double, because not long before he attracted the attention of his mystery admirer, he was spotted chatting with Maya at the GQ bash.

‘Absolute ball’

The couple split in August 2019 but have remained pals. They were seen talking for 20 minutes before going their separate ways.

The onlooker added: “Stormzy and Maya clearly still get on like a house on fire.”

Unluckily for Stormzy, Maya has now moved on with basketball player Ben Simmons so I can’t see a reconciliation.

‘GQ Award for being awake’

PARTY animal Emily Atack celebrated into the early hours at swanky members club 180 The Strand with fellow celebs including Hannah Cooper.

Swerving the free GQ booze in favour of over-priced cocktails, she was joined by Laura Whitmore and Iain Sterling at the central London haunt.

Despite her love of a wild night, it seems Emily was regretting her decision to carry on the party. On Insta yesterday, she joked she “deserved a GQ Award for being awake.”

ED: I WAS       ABOUT TO QUIT

ED SHEERAN has spent the past nine weeks at No1 with Bad Habits and rightfully won the Solo Artist Of The Year award at the ceremony.

But he has confessed he almost quit the music business last year following the birth of his daughter Lyra with wife Cherry Seaborn.

Ed admitted: “There was a stage back at the end of last year when I thought I’d never make music again. When my daughter was born I just said, ‘Maybe this is me now’. It was such a switch in my life and, wow, it was bringing me so much.

“Joy, of course – but obviously parts of it were really difficult too. I stopped playing the guitar, stopped writing songs and singing. I actually convinced myself I was never going to sing or pick up the guitar again. I was like, ‘No. This is it. I quit’.”

However, Ed, who said he has written 230 songs since his 2019 album No.6 Collaborations Project, realised he was “miserable” when he was not working.

The Shape Of You singer, who teased he will release another record next year following his fifth studio album called = in October, told the latest issue of GQ mag: “I saw myself as technically being unemployed during that period of non-creation and, to be honest, I was f***ing miserable. I wanted Cherry to see me happy and thriving.”

He was doing just that as he hit up a private party later with pal Anne-Marie. He might be a responsible parent now but it’s good to see he still likes to let loose.

And even though Ed is worth £220million, he still loves a freebie. The star got his security to escort him out with no fewer than five goodybags.

REGE 007 FAVE

BRIDGERTON hunk Rege-Jean Page partied till 1am.

The actor picked up the Standout Performance Of The Year gong but stayed coy when I quizzed him about his next role.

Rege-Jean, who was joined at the bash by girlfriend Emily Brown, is still the bookies’ favourite to take over from Daniel Craig as the next Bond.

Laughing, Rege told me: “I couldn’t say a thing. I don’t have any say in it.”

Given his superstar qualities and suave good looks, I’m putting my money on him as the next 007 too.

GQ BIT

JOEL Dommett has promised ITV he will avoid savage gags and be family-friendly as he hosts the National Television Awards next week.

He told me: “I am just going to have fun. There is no need for too much cynicism. I’ll write the funniest stuff I can, that I think is right for the ceremony.”

But he added: “A lot of my jokes have fallen flat in the past but that is part of my job.” OK then . . .

SEEMS PIXIE’S HAD A LOTT

WITH restrictions easing, Pixie Lott was making up for lost time when she hit the bar on Wednesday night, if these photos of her stumbling into a cab on the way home are anything to go by.

The bubbly singer had a great time at the party alongside her model fiancé Oliver Cheshire, who were both on a table hosted by beer brand Peroni.

I can only assume Pixie took full advantage of that hospitality as she was seen letting her hair down on the dancefloor before getting into a taxi at around 1am.

In a sparkly gold minidress, she clung on to Oliver’s arm as they left and looked slightly the worse for wear by the time she got into the back of the car.

Oliver wrote yesterday on Instagram: “Lovely to be allowed out of the house again. Had me dancing boots on.”

I’m sure it was worth the hangovers.

ELLIE’S A SHOE-OFF

GLAMOROUS female celebs were out of practice when it came to dancing in heels, with most of them ending up barefoot by the time they staggered away from the bash.

Ellie Goulding, enjoying one of her first nights out since welcoming her son Arthur with husband Caspar Jopling in May, ditched her shoes, as did The Crown star Emma Corrin.

Jack Whitehall’s girlfriend Roxy Horner got so carried away she managed to break one of her high heels.

GQ BIT

HE is gearing up to appear on Strictly Come Dancing later this year.

And Adam Peaty used the after-party to attempt a shimmy and shake on the side of the dancefloor.

The Olympic swimmer was joined by girlfriend Eirianedd Munro on the night and the pair were spotted mingling with the showbiz stars before having a boogie and heading home. I’ve got high hopes for him on the show.

RAYE appeared on cloud nine as she headed home with model and actor pal Rafferty Law.

The singer beamed away in a statement all-red outfit as she left the bash alongside Jude Law’s son.

PARTY IN NICK OF TIME

HE was forced to postpone his Radio 1 leaving party after all his pals went on holiday but now Nick Grimshaw is planning a bash to remember.

The broadcaster, who left the BBC after 14 years last month, told me: “I finally get to have my leaving party next Friday.

“I wanted a house party but Meshach [Nick’s boyfriend] said no. We’ve only been in the house for 18 months and we’re renovating. So I am going to have it away from home. I can’t wait, it will be wild.”

Nick stepped away from radio to work on television projects and it seems the move is already paying off.

He said: “I am absolutely loving what I am doing now.” He’s sorely missed.

ESCORT FOR JAY

AFTER hours of enjoying the freebies on offer, it all got too much for Tamara Ecclestone’s husband Jay Rutland and his pals.

The heiress’s other half and his mates were seen being ticked off by security when things started to get rowdy in the early hours.

An onlooker said: “Jay was with some mates who were being quite raucous.

“It was almost 2am and everyone seemed a little worse for wear.

“Not long after they were confronted by two heavies, Jay and his pals were seen storming out – with security not far behind.”

I predict there were some sore heads after that session.
