Tuanzebe helped Villa earn promotion to the Premier League in 2019 when he played alongside Tyrone Mings during their Championship play-off final win against Derby.

And with Dean Smith needing another right-sided centre-back this summer, he has pushed for a familiar face.

Chelsea striker Abraham simply responded to Tuanzebe’s Instagram post by saying: “He’s back.” Whilst Lukaku added: “Good luck bro.”

Former Villa coach Terry, who left this summer, added in the comments section: “He’s back. My guy.”

Well, at one stage, it looked like Villa were going to get the band together because, alongside Tuanzebe, it seemed as though Abraham was also going to return to B6.

But the signing of Danny Ings has ended the Chelsea man’s chances of moving back to Villa Park because Smith now has two outstanding strikers to pick from.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how Smith uses Tuanzebe ahead of the new season because both Ezri Konsa and Mings helped Villa secure 15 clean sheets next season.

Will there be a change of formation? Smith has been deploying two strikers in pre-season, but will that also include him moving to a three at the back formation?

Either way, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tuanzebe also used as a back-up option to Matty Cash at right-back because Frederic Guilbert isn’t being selected once again.
