‘The absolute panic I felt …’ Bunnings sausage snag TikTok goes viral – but can you see why?

A TikTok video of one woman’s Bunnings snag has caused a stir on social media for a very surprising reason.

While the snack may look like one of the retail store’s iconic sausage sandwiches, it’s in fact the work of talented cake maker Tigga Maccormack.

The professional baker has a cult following on TikTok, with her epic cakes attracting millions of views and reactions.

But it was the life-like nature of this latest creation that left many scratching their heads.

Especially when Tigga was filmed placing onions and tomato sauce straight from the bottle – which were in fact fried apples and buttercream – on the cake.

“The absolute panic I felt when you put the sauce on was next level!” said one TikTok user.

Added another: “This is a mind blow! I’m tasting tomato sauce, but I know it’s butter cream!”

In the video, the clever revealed how she created the Bunnings snag cake.

“I got a vanilla butter cake and I pulled it straight out of the oven. While it was still hot, I placed these objects around it and that’s how I got the shape of the bread,” she said, showing the jars and plastic pieces she used to mould the cake.

“I then sliced off the crust and sliced it in half and I got two pieces of bread … but it’s cake!

“Now, because I’ve got bread I thought ‘What am I going to make with it?’ Gotta be something cool!

“So I got some chocolate mud and squished it and rolled it into a sausage. And I got some brown fondant and put my sausage in the fondant and rolled it up.

“Smoothed it all out and then I got myself my little baby torch and then I torched the crap out of it!”

It was then that she revealed that she was in fact making a Bunnings snag.

“If you can’t tell already, I am making a snag in bread! It’s a pretty big thing over here in Australia, not sure if other countries have it …. but in Australia it’s pretty iconic,” she said.

“Bunnings snag anyone?

“So once my snag was done, I put it on the cake bread. And we actually fried some apple in sugar for our onions. Chucked on some dead sauce on it and there you go!

“And for those of you wondering, dead sauce is tomato sauce and no it’s not tomato sauce, it’s tomato sauce in a sauce bottle!”

Thousands of social media users were blown away by the creation.

“But why does it look so real?! I swear my brain wouldn’t be able to let me eat it. It would be so confused!” said one.

Said another: “This looks illegal!”

Wrote one more: “I watched you make it, but I STILL can’t believe that’s a cake!”

However an observer did point out one problem with the cake.

“Onions on the BOTTOM, have the Bunnings accidents taught you nothing!” joked one.

Added another: “OK, but no – my brain REFUSES to believe that isn’t tomato sauce. And for anyone saying onions on the bottom, you’re wrong!”
