The Young and the Restless loves a good wedding, especially if there’s plenty of soapy drama to go along with it. So the Italian wedding for Victoria Newman and Ashland Locke promises to be a nail-biter until they say, “I do.”
The Young and the Restless Cast Looks Back At Their Iconic Weddings
Y&R shared a poignant three-minute video to its social media featuring cast members reminiscing about their favorite weddings over the years on the soap.
For actress Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor), the best is probably many viewers favorite too — Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) first wedding. Long before she played The Mustache’s daughter in the daytime drama, Melissa found herself using her Barbie dolls to recreate the iconic moment.
Undercurrents Make Young And The Restless Weddings Memorable
Lauren Fenmore Baldwin’s portrayer Tracey Bregman revealed it’s the undercurrents — the drama — that makes the weddings on the sudser stand out. Most of the time, when couples unite on the show, there’s an element leaving viewers wondering if they’ll make it to the alter. Sometimes, the union never happens like Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) latest attempt.
Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) described it perfectly. She noted how viewers watch all the drama in their favorite couple’s relationships. They fight and break up and makeup. But, for her and many others, the ultimate payoff is the wedding, which often happens at long last. That’s why the lack of a wedding moment for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) left many fans furious.
If things go well this week and next, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) could be tying the knot. Check out how the rest of the cast feels about big Y&R weddings in the video below.
