These Rangers fans distraught as ‘greatest Swede’ finally tastes league defeat

Rangers defender Filip Helander has finally lost a Scottish Premiership game – almost two years after moving to Ibrox – and Gers fans on Twitter are distraught.

The Swedish defender played all 90 minutes as the Gers lost 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice, as the Light Blues lost their first league game in 40.

Such was Helander’s record in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers fans had even set up a Twitter account marking how long the defender had gone without losing as they marvelled at the record of the “greatest Swede to grace the Scottish game.”

Jamie Robson’s goal was the difference between the two sides at Tannadice as Rangers put in a poor performance ahead of their Champions League clash with Malmo on Tuesday.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard admitted he had a few ‘home truths’ to tell his players after the defeat as fans were left gutted at the end of Helander’s impressive run.

With the ‘Has Filip Helander lost a league game yet?’ Twitter account now left redundant, fans took to social media, calling it a “sad day.”
