Tuchel has used the youngster as a central defender, both on the right and the middle of the back-three.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss has been impressed by how Chalobah has done, but Tuchel has still told him that he can go on loan.
That’s because Chelsea have options at centre-back, with a deal for Jules Kounde of Sevilla also reportedly being worked on.
Chelsea manager Tuchel cannot guarantee Chalobah regular playing time.
Boost for Crystal Palace
Chelsea’s decision is a boost for Palace, who want to sign Chalobah.
L’Equipe reported last month that Palace manager and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira wants to sign the 22-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
Watford, West Bromwich Albion and Montpellier are also claimed to be interested in the youngster.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
Palace should now make their move and make a pitch to Chelsea and Chalobah.
