Tim Tebow Has Been Cut From The Jacksonville Jaguars

Looks like the experiment is coming to a close.

It’s no secret that Tim Tebow’s road to returning to football was not gonna be an easy one.

The man had been out of football for seven years, played a completely different sport in between, and had to learn a completely new position in tight end. The odds of success were very unlikely, especially when you have elite athletes who’ve been playing tight end their whole lives competing against you.

Tebow’s debut as a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars was… well… less than stellar, to say the least.

He looked a bit lost when he was running routes, didn’t look polished as a blocker, and while he technically made this piss poor block, he blew up the play on the next one after a few defensive linemen just casually tossed him off the line.

And just like anybody else in the league who’s cutting their teeth, trying to play under the lights on Sunday nights, he received the same treatment…

And he got cut.

He released this statement on Twitter:

“Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks. I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream…

Thank you to the Jaguars organization and everyone who has supported me in this journey. And we know that… God works all things together for good. Romans 8:28.”

Although he got the boot, he still left his mark in Jacksonville in his short stint there.

His jersey became the number one seller for the organization, and Jaguar quarterback Trevor Lawrence often spoke about his leadership abilities on the field and in the locker room. And perhaps the best thing? All the focus seemed to be on Tebow and not their #1 overall pick, rookie quarterback.

I guess you’ll take that…
