According to Football.London, Mauricio Pochettino is not interested in working with a director of football – another knock to Tottenham Hotspur’s lingering hopes.
Tottenham have still yet to find a new manager despite sacking Jose Mourinho more than two months ago, with their search lurching from farce to farce.
Nuno Espirito Santo now looks to be the favourite for the job, with hopes of luring Pochettino back from Paris Saint-Germain dwindling.
Tottenham’s hopes of bringing back Pochettino
TalkSPORT reported last week that Nuno was emerging as the favourite, but there were many at Tottenham still hoping to bring back Pochettino.
The Argentinian was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019, but Daniel Levy and co seemingly feel that he could still be the man to lead the club going forward.
That would be a stunning U-turn, but with PSG unwilling to let Pochettino go, Tottenham’s hopes appear to be over.
Pochettino and Paratici may not get along
This new report notes that Pochettino wouldn’t want to work with a director of football, which is a move Tottenham have only just made.
Tottenham brought in Fabio Paratici to fill that role, but it’s a move and a role that Pochettino just doesn’t like; his relationship with Leonardo at PSG, who fills a similar role, is already strained.
With Pochettino not interested in working under such a structure, it looks like we can finally rule out Pochettino heading back to Tottenham – for now at least.
