The Sisters are coming back for more demonic fighting. The Heavens opened up in July 2020, and Warrior Nun, their new original fantasy series, was sent down to Earth through Netflix. The ecclesiastical series, which is loosely based on Ben Dunn’s iconic Warrior Nun Areala comics, follows Ava (Alba Baptista), a young woman who dies and is revived with a halo cemented on her back, now destined to become a member of a secretive, holy collective of demon-hunting warriors.
Fans have been wondering if they’ll be seeing more of Ava and her Sisters since the first season concluded with a big reveal. While you wait for more of Simon Barry’s (Van Helsing, Bad Bad) show, here’s what we know so far about Warrior Nun Season 2.
Will there be a second season of Warrior Nun?
Thank you, thank you, thank you, In mid-August, almost a month and a half after Warrior Nun premiered on Netflix in July 2020, the streaming service confirmed its renewal for a second season. Netflix announced the show’s return on Twitter with a heartwarming video of showrunner Simon Barry breaking the news to the Warrior Sisters themselves. Their gasps and joyous reactions mirror our feelings.
When will the second season of Warrior Nun be released?
We’ll have to wait a while before we can get right into the hellish action. Season 1 premiered in early July 2020, but if the production staff can resume work remotely and the status of the pandemic in Spain, where the show is filmed, allows for shooting in 2021, the show might return in the fall or winter of 2021. Of note, this means that the coronavirus situation in Spain changes, as cases are once again on the rise in the third wave.
The audience would have to speculate yet another plot twist. They’ll have to wait until next season arrives. Stay tuned with us for more information.
