‘Wentworth’ is an Australian prison drama series that was initially started as a story that depicts Bea Smith’s life as an inmate. The series was first broadcasted on SoHo in 2013, after which Netflix began streaming the first two seasons in December 2014.
As the season progress, the story builds up with much characterization of Bea Smith and how she climbs up the ladder to be the top dog within the prison. However, from seasons 5 to 8, the story slightly diverges away from a single straight line into multiple parallel plots giving each character enough dominance and screen time.
The eighth season ends with the cybercriminal, Judy Bryant, a force to be reckoned with, involves a scuffle that sees her stabbing Allie in the shower. This leaves much room for expectations in the upcoming finale season, giving more reason for fans to rewatch the entire series while waiting for the proper ending.
Wentworth Season 9: Release date
Immediately after the seventh season, ‘Wentworth’ was renewed for the further two seasons, ending the triumphant prison drama series. Unlike many shows that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, ‘Wentworth’ has already wrapped up production and is awaiting to be released on screen.
Fans can expect Season 9, which would have ten episodes, to premiere in Australia around mid-2021. As for Netflix viewers, the gritting drama series will take a slight delay but be streamed a month or two after the Australian release.
Wentworth Season 9: Cast and Plot
The leading roles that took the prison by storm are expected to return and bring forward the storyline to reach the end destination. However, it wouldn’t come as a shock if the show’s first main character could return from the dead, as ‘Wentworth’ had never shied when it came to character revival.
The many turns of events in season 8 would probably catch up in the long-running show’s finale with ‘The Freak’ making a return from the dead. Fans can expect season 9 to be the most significant phenomenon they ever witnessed throughout the series.
