BRITTANY Murphy shot to fame as fresh-faced teenager in cult classic 90s movie Clueless.
Sadly her life was cut tragically short aged just 32, and a new documentary What Happened, Brittany Murphy? delves into the disturbing details of the actress’ final days.
What was Brittany Murphy’s cause of death?
Brittany was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on December 20, 2009.
The Los Angeles Coroner ruled her death was due to pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication due to prescription pills.
In the new documentary What Happened, Brittany Murphy? makeup artist Trista Jordan – who worked with Brittany on her last film, 2009’s Something Wicked – reflected on the actress’ concerning appearance in her final months.
Trista said: “Her eyes were so sunken, and she just seemed so sad.
“She wasn’t herself. She was in so much pain. She had Bambi legs and couldn’t stand up.”
Brittany rose to fame in 90s classic Clueless alongside Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd.
She also starred alongside Michael Douglas in Don’t Say A Word in 2001 and Eminem in 8 Mile, for which she received critical acclaim.
Did she have kids?
Brittany didn’t have any children during her life.
The actress had several high profile romances but didn’t go onto have kids.
In late 2002 she began dating Ashton Kutcher, her co-star in Just Married.
In December 2005 she became engaged to Joe Macaluso, a production assistant she met while working on the film Little Black Book.
In August 2006, they ended their engagement.
Who was her husband?
Simon Monjack was an English screenwriter, film director and film producer.
He was found dead on May 23, 2010, in his house in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The coroner’s report found the cause of his death to be acute pneumonia and severe anemia, similar to the causes attributed to his wife Brittany’s passing five months earlier in the same house.
The new HBO documentary claims he “conned” the actress before her sudden death.
Director Cynthia Hill claimed Brittany was one of Simon’s “last victims”.
She said: “He was a disturbed individual who was used to conning people and Brittany was one of his last victims.
“There was a pattern of behavior that became very obvious the more research that we did.”
