LIZ Cheney is a Republican congresswoman representing Wyoming who was ousted from her leadership position on May 12.

Cheney has been married to lawyer Philip Perry since 1993 and the couple share five children. Cheney has recently resolved a rift in her family following her changing her stance on same-sex marriages.

Who are Liz Cheney’s children?

The couple have five children together: Grace Perry, Richard Perry, Elizabeth Perry, Kate Perry, and Philip Perry.

Dad Philip was a political appointee in the George W Bush administration.

At one time he was the acting associate attorney general at the Department of Justice, general counsel of the Office of Management and Budget, and general counsel of the Department of Homeland Security.

He is best known for “his pioneering work litigating biotechnology issues and his work on constitutional and federal regulatory matters.”

He currently works as a partner at law firm Latham and Watkins LLP.

Liz and her family live in Wilson, Wyoming.

She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016, and later was elevated to the third-ranking Republican in the House.

“Prior to her election to Congress, Liz served at the State Department as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East,” reads her bio.

“She also practiced law at White & Case and at the International Finance Corporation.”

Was Liz Cheney removed from her leadership position?

On Wednesday, May 12, House Republicans voted to remove Cheney as chair of the House Republican Conference.

House Republicans ousted Cheney by voice vote on Capitol Hill.

Liz Cheney was replaced by New York Rep. Elise Stefanik on May 14.

Cheney has been a vocal opponent of former President Trump following the attack on the US Capitol earlier this year and for his false claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called for her removal as House Republican Conference Chair.

He cited her denouncings of Trump as being against the party’s interest to retake the House next year.

Who is Liz Cheney’s father?

Her father is Dick Cheney, the former vice president of the US.

Dick Cheney, now 80, was VP under George W Bush from 2001 to 2009. He also served as Secretary of Defense under George HW Bush from 1989 to 1993. He was Gerald Ford’s chief of staff from 1975 to 1977.

Liz Cheney split from her family’s political views back in 2013 when she spoke up about about opposing same-sex marriage.

This caused a divide between Cheney and her sister Mary who is married to wife Heather Poe.

However, on September 26, 2021 Liz Cheney went on an interview on CBS’ News “60 Minutes” where she went back on her previous beliefs..

She said about her change in stance in the interview, “I was wrong. I was wrong,” she said. “It’s a very personal issue – and very personal for my family. I believe that my dad was right.”

Cheney stated that since her change in opinion on the issue, she has resolved her relationship with sister Mary.
