Who is Lucy Monye?

Little is known about Lucy Monye, who keeps a relatively low profile.

Her Instagram is private, and has less than 400 followers – although she does sometimes appear on her husband’s feed.

It’s also not known what Lucy does for work.

Ugo and Lucy were introduced by a mutual friend in 2014.

Why did Ugo and Lucy Monye split?

The couple tied the knot less than two years after first meeting, on April 16, 2016.

They celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in 2021 – but split just four months later.

Speaking to The Sun, Ugo said: “It’s been hard. At times things have seemed a bit overwhelming but it’s been a tough period for us both.

“In some relationships, there is a moment, a ‘thing’ that breaks the couple.

“It can be an exterior influence. It can be anything. But with us, it was a number of things.

“We weren’t in a volatile relationship, we never hated each other and there was no third party.

“Forget the Strictly curse – it’s the Covid curse! We ended up where we ended up.”

Do Ugo Monye and Lucy Monye have children?

The Monyes share two kids.

The couple’s eldest daughter, Phoenix Lilly, was born March 26, 2017.

They then had another girl, who they named Ruby, on February 7, 2020.

Ugo Monye regularly posts his daughters online, sharing updates on their lives and proudly describing himself as a “girl dad”.

Ugo is a strong advocate for gender equality in the sport of rugby, and says being a parent has influenced this.

Yet, despite Ugo and Lucy’s split, the proud father-of-two believes the pair will still communicate when it comes to their daughters – and even go away together.

The ex-Harlequins star added: “Our focus is very much on the kids, protecting and fostering this amazing family unit.

“It will take more work, of course, but Lucy and I are in a good place. We’ve even been discussing the idea of going on holiday as a family next summer.

“She’s an amazing person and incredible mum.”
