BROADWAY legend Nick Cordero passed away in July of 2020, leaving behind his devastated wife and their toddler son Elvis.

The Tony Award-nominated actor was in a coma and spent 91 days in hospital after contracting coronavirus back in March.

Who was Nick Cordero?

Nick Cordero, 41, was a Canadian theater actor.

His work in theater earned him several accolades such as a gong from the Outer Critics Circle and the Theatre World.

Nick made his acting debut in the off-Broadway production of The Toxic Avenger.

He also played the role of Dennis in Rock of Ages on Broadway in 2012 and on tour.

The star also appeared on Broadway in the 2014 musical Bullets Over Broadway in the role of Cheech.

When did Nick Cordero pass away?

Nick caught coronavirus in March 2020. He was hospitalized in ICU after doctors first misdiagnosed him with pneumonia.

He then suffered a variety of complications as a result of Covid-19.

Doctors were not only forced to amputate his right leg because of blood clots, but the Broadway star also had to undergo stem cell treatment to strengthen his lungs.

However, on July 5, 2020, Nick passed away after 91 days in the hospital.

What were Nick Cordero’s biggest roles?

Nick was best known for the Broadway show Bullets Over Broadway, for which he earned a Tony Award nomination.

He also performed in the likes of A Bronx Tale The Musical, Waitress, and Rock of Ages.

Onscreen, he had roles in movies like 2011’s Don Juan and 2017’s Going in Style and in shows like Blue Bloods and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Cordero’s life and legacy will be honored on the Broadway musical, Waitress, on September 3, 2021.

He was part of its original cast and was set to star in the production.

The show will feature on its menu board an item called Live Your Life pie, a reference to Cordero’s song Live Your Life.

The Instagram account of Waitress shared a picture of the menu that features “a big ol’ slice,” writing:  “This week, we honored the memory of our beloved cast member Nick Cordero.” 

When did Nick Cordero meet his wife Amanda Kloots-Larsen?

The couple met during their time in 2014’s Bullets Over Broadway.

Amanda was an ensemblist in the production.

The two became engaged in March 2017 and married in September that same year.

They had one child together, Elvis, who was born in June 2019.

On the one-year anniversary of his death, Amanda penned a tribute to her husband on Instagram, writing: “What happened was unthinkable, losing you was my biggest fear.

“I used to tell you all the time, ‘Don’t you dare go anywhere. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do.’

“There hasn’t been a day this year where you weren’t missed, thought about and talked about.

“Thank you for being our guardian angel, for sending me signs, for being my DJ in heaven.”
