Woman reveals how she slashed the cost of her summer caravan holiday in half

A WOMAN revealed how she spent less than half on her caravan holiday in the UK this summer, saving her family hundreds of pounds.

Danielle Elton explained how she often visits Tenby with her family, only to find it costing a lot more this year due to the pandemic, which has seen staycations boom.

She told Wales Online: “It was going to cost me upwards of £450 to stay in Tenby for four nights mid-week in June.

“Now that might not seem too bad in comparison to some of the prices during the school holidays, but it is considerably more than I’m used to, especially for that time of year.”

However, a friend of hers said she should avoid using comparison websites and instead to book directly with the owners for the best deals, so found the website UKCaravans4Hire.

She continued: “I remembered a tip given to me by a friend. Book direct with the owner.

“She had been doing it for years, not because of the price but more for the flexibility and the personal touches.

“So after a quick Google, I stumbled upon UKCaravans4Hire – a booking site that cuts out the middle man. It’s basically the online version of an ad in the caravan window.”

For the same four nights at the caravan park, she said she paid just £245 instead of £450 – and that was for an even better deluxe caravan.

While she added that there wasn’t the “security of booking with the park direct,” she said the owners were verified and she was in direct contact with them, which was “reassuring”.

We also found examples of cheaper holidays when booked through the website, with some even being less money for a bigger caravan.

A caravan sleeping four at Newquay Bay Resort costs up to £1,519 with Hoseasons – while a six-person caravan was just £738 on UKCaravan4Hire.

In Devon, seven nights at Bideford Bay Holiday Resort costs just £512 for up to eight people in September, while the same dates and caravan via Parkdean Resorts is £879.

Three nights at Combe Haven Holiday park in September costs £336 when staying at a prestige caravan – or just £175 on the direct website.

We’ve rounded up the most beautiful caravan spots around the UK to book this summer.

If you can wait until 2022, holiday parks have bargain deals for next summer, including £129 breaks with Parkdean and Haven deals from £44.
