Woman says she was kicked off Alaska Airlines flight for wearing crop top in viral TikTok

A passenger claims she was escorted off a plane for wearing a crop top in a TikTok that has gone viral.

Rapper Fat Trophy Wife, who uses the TikTok name @fattrophywife, made the accusations in a now-viral video in which she said she had been “harassed” by Alaska Airlines staff and escorted off the plane by police because of her “inappropriate” outfit.

In the clip, captioned, “@alaskaair Flight attendant harassed and called the airport police on me for my inappropriate outfit”, she filmed herself walking with multiple police officers behind her.

The text over the clip read: “I was escorted off the plane by police tonight, how’s your night going.”

She was then seated in a room with police officers and filmed herself giving her account of the events, saying: “I was harassed about my outfit”.

The musician, who is from Alaska, alleged that she was approached by airline staff because she was wearing a crop top. She claims she was asked to put another top on, which she did.

She alleged: “And then they approached me again, saying that I can’t wear this, my stomach is showing, and it’s inappropriate.”

According to the TikToker, she was approached three separate times by staff about her outfit, despite having put another top on when asked the first time.

On the third time of being approached, she reportedly told staff: “If you’re going to kick me off, kick me off.”

In the clip, the police officer can be heard saying that no crimes were committed by her. @fattrophywife also said she looked up the dress code and believed her outfit was within it.

Alaska Airlines’ dress code policy is as follows: “The dress code on both Alaska and Horizon is casual, and the requirement is simply a neat and well-groomed appearance. Clothing that is soiled or tattered and bare feet are never acceptable. You are expected to use good judgment, but customer service agents will have the final authority to refuse travel for inappropriate attire or appearance.”

It is not the first time in recent months that Alaska Airlines has come under fire for their treatment of a passenger over an outfit.

In August, a passenger named Sierra claimed she was “slut-shamed” by an Alaska Airlines flight attendant for wearing a crop top and said she was grabbed on the arm.

Sierra wrote in a TikTok: “When the flight attendant slut shames you in front of the whole plane and threatens to kick you off for what you’re wearing.”

At the time, the company responded to Sierra’s claims telling indy100: “We are in contact with Sierra and her family and are committed to finding out what happened and taking all appropriate action.

“It’s our goal to provide caring service to all of our guests. When we don’t live up to that goal, we do everything we can to make it right.”
