{"id":32695,"date":"2021-08-20T00:28:19","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T18:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/districtchronicles.com\/video-shows-tesla-with-open-falcon-wing-door-3-seconds-from-disaster\/"},"modified":"2021-08-20T00:28:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T18:58:25","slug":"video-shows-tesla-with-open-falcon-wing-door-3-seconds-from-disaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/districtchronicles.com\/video-shows-tesla-with-open-falcon-wing-door-3-seconds-from-disaster\/","title":{"rendered":"Video shows Tesla with open falcon-wing door 3 seconds from disaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"main\">\n<p>One Tesla X driver has learned the hard way that they should probably keep their doors closed while the vehicle is moving.<\/p>\n<p>The model\u2019s distinctive falcon-wing doors are an impressive feature &#8211; that is until on this occasion when they caused an accident in London on Sunday, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tesla-model-x-door-rips-off-crash-london-bus-2021-8?r=US&amp;IR=T\" target=\"_blank\">Business Insider<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Within a matter of seconds from the camera rolling, the open door managed to collide with a double-decker bus, completely smashing the front windscreen, side of the driver cab and advertising board.<\/p>\n<p>As you can imagine, the whole incident gave the bus driver and a nearby pedestrian who was about to cross the road an awful fright.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not known whether the open doors were the result of a vehicle malfunction or whether it was a stupid idea by the driver to keep the door open.<\/p>\n<p>But the warning signs seem pretty hard to miss. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tesla X wingtip door hits London Bus\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pEYcoqBLifQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Tesla X do have at least three warnings whenever the door is open (one of which you can\u2019t clear) and an audible tone that also lets you know. Not to mention the on-screen visual showing which door is open with the opened door being highlight red, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jalopnik.com\/watch-this-tesla-driver-cause-thousands-of-dollars-in-d-1847503572\" target=\"_blank\">Jalopnik reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Transport for London confirmed to <em>indy100 <\/em>the incident took place on Chase Side, Southgate at around 16:45 on Saturday 14 August and a route 125 bus, operated by Metroline, was involved in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Tom Cunnington, TfL\u2019s head of bus business development told<em> indy100<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of an incident involving a route 125 bus on Saturday in Southgate, and a video on social media of the incident that shows what happened from an onlooker\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIt must have been a really nasty shock for the bus driver, who we wish well, and we are supporting the bus operator\u2019s ongoing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One Tesla X driver has learned the hard way that they should probably keep their doors closed while the vehicle is moving.
