Former CIA officer Phil Mudd is not pleased with two congressmen and their decision to visit Kabul, Afghanistan, for an “Instagram trip.”

While in conversation with Brianna Keilar and John Berman, Mudd called out Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Peter Meijer (R-MI) for their trip to Kabul, which ended with the two departing on a military flight that was meant for Americans and Afghan refugees threatened by the Taliban.

“Phil, I do want to get your take on something else we learned overnight, which is two members of Congress, Seth Moulton and Peter Meijer, made this unannounced trip to Afghanistan to assess the situation on the ground,” Berman said.

Berman noted that Moulton and Meijer are veterans “who would say they wanted to go on a fact-finding mission,” which has been “sharply criticised” by the administration.

“I wonder what your view of it is,” Berman asked.

“Reprehensible. Sharply criticised is too polite,” Mudd said.

He further said that Joe Biden noted that the situation is “so dangerous” that the US military can no longer be in the country.

“So two members of Congress, without the support of their leadership, decide they’re going to bypass Disneyland and take an Instagram trip to Afghanistan because they want some eye candy for a bunch of constituents,” Mudd continued.

But he didn’t stop there.

Mudd also noted if he were House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy he “would see this a chance for bipartisanship.”

He also would want them to be asked about “the two seats they took out,” seemingly disregarding refugees.

“What do you tell them? Last thing I’d say, evidently, from what I’ve read, whatever brilliant insight they got, the slow start meant we could get fewer people out than we would have gotten out if we started fast,” Mudd said.

Ultimately, Mudd thinks the two representatives “ought to go from their committees.”
