{"id":40513,"date":"2021-08-26T01:35:21","date_gmt":"2021-08-25T20:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/districtchronicles.com\/the-offer-pulls-out-of-chateau-marmont-shoot-amid-boycott\/"},"modified":"2021-08-26T01:35:30","modified_gmt":"2021-08-25T20:05:30","slug":"the-offer-pulls-out-of-chateau-marmont-shoot-amid-boycott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/districtchronicles.com\/the-offer-pulls-out-of-chateau-marmont-shoot-amid-boycott\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Offer&#8217; pulls out of Chateau Marmont shoot amid boycott"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Another production\u00a0has pulled out of filming at Chateau Marmont amid an ongoing high-profile boycott of the iconic hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount Plus series \u201cThe Offer\u201d \u2014 starring Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, Justin Chambers, and Colin Hanks and based on the making of \u201cThe Godfather\u201d \u2014 was scheduled to film at the hotel, sources say, but changed locations when they learned of the ongoing dispute between\u00a0the hotel and former staff.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 250 of the hotel\u2019s employees were let go at the beginning of the pandemic without insurance or severance. They are being helped by LA hospitality union Unite Here Local 11. <\/p>\n<p>(Hotel owner Andre Balazs has previously said that in May the hotel \u201cgave\u00a0more than $250,000\u201d\u00a0to employees.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe applaud Paramount Plus\u2019s decision to honor the boycott of the Chateau Marmont. We thank all the Hollywood unions \u2014 SAG AFTRA, IATSE, Teamsters, WGA and DGA \u2014 for supporting these courageous workers who have spoken out for dignity and respect,\u201d Kurt Petersen, co-president of Unite Here Local 11, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel\u2019s workers have been vocal, staging picket lines and calling for a boycott that has caught the attention of\u00a0celebs including Jane Fonda, Martin Sheen, Tom Morello,\u00a0Edie Falco, Amanda Seyfried, Daveed Diggs and Sarah Silverman.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the hotel tells us that if \u201cthis production turns out to have been moved as a result of Unite Here Local 11\u2019s interference, it would be yet another example of the union\u2019s harassment of a non-union hotel and damaging the livelihood of hospitality workers who currently enjoy employment at the Chateau with wages and benefits greater than prevailing union standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In April, Aaron Sorkin\u2019s \u201cBeing the Ricardos\u201d \u2014\u00a0starring Kidman as Lucille Ball\u00a0\u2014 pulled out of a scheduled shoot at the hotel just hours before filming after the crew had a conversation with the union representing the hotel workers, Page Six previously reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Offer,\u201d will be a ten-episode limited series based on the making of the classic film.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another production\u00a0has pulled out of filming at Chateau Marmont amid an ongoing high-profile boycott of the iconic hotel.
