WWE Smackdown: 5 Must-See Moments

The Street Profits earn a shot at the gold
On last week’s Friday Night Smackdown, Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins came to the aid of Finn Balor during a beatdown from the Bloodline. In response, the Street Profits called out The Usos in an attempt to earn a shot at the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles. Kicking off this week’s show, both teams clashed in a hig flying contest. The action went back and forth, including a Montez Ford rotating frog splash on Jey Uso for a near fall. Outside the ring, Ford took out both Usos with a massive suicide dive. In the end, the Street Profits got the win by DQ after the Usos double team exceeded the referee’s 5-count.

Sasha and Bianca come face to face
Becky Lynch came to the ring just two weeks after her surprise return at WWE Summerslam. Lynch defeated Bianca Belair for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion in surprising fashion in under 30 seconds. With Lynch in the ring, the new champion called out the WWE Universe for trying to make her the “bad guy” after Summerslam. Belair then came to the ring and issued a challenge for a match later in the night, but Lynch declined.

A feud reignited

Cesaro and Rollins rekindle a rivalry, Edge returns
Back at Wrestlemania 37, Cesaro took down Seth Rollins in one of the better matches of the PPV. After losing to Edge at Summerslam, Rollins looked to bounce back against his old rival. Cesaro got the advantage early on but Rollins was able to counter, using several of Edge’s moves. Rollins got a two count of an Edge-o-Matic in the process. Later in the match, Cesaro hit the big swing nearly 20 times before applying the sharpshooter. Rollins retreated to the outside and hit Cesaro with a chair to cause the DQ. After the match, Rollins appeared to snap and continued on with the beatdown until Edge made the save.

Brock calls Heyman, challenge upcoming
After leaving the locker room of Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman was stopped to answer a few questions. With Heyman clearly caught off guard, his phone continued to ring with the ringtone of Brock Lesnar’s theme music. Later in the night, Heyman confirmed to Reigns that Lesnar would be at WWE Smackdown next week in MSG.

Roman retains in battle it Balor
Over the last two months, Roman Reigns has been occupied with John Cena, and now has Brock Lesnar in his path. With Reigns preoccupied, Finn Balor has made it clear he wants a shot at the WWE Universal Champion. Balor’s challenge was accepted in the main event of WWE Smackdown but he was attacked before the bell by the Usos. Reigns got the upper hand early on taking advantage of the Usos attack. Balor was able to get on the offense, targeting Reigns’ knee and then working him over in the corner. The match went back and forth, including Balor kicking out of the Superman Punch. In the end, Reigns kicked out of a pin with a low blow and then hooked a front-face submission for the win.
