Harry Kane has moved to clarify some things at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old hitman was widely criticised for failing to attend Spurs’ pre-season training on Monday of this week.
And when it happened again on the Tuesday, alarm bells started ringing by virtue of the fact that he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
On Friday, Kane released a statement via Instagram.
He claimed that he is ‘hurt’ by some fans questioning his professionalism in light of the training no-show but confirmed that he’d be back at Hotspur Way today.
There has been very little support from his teammates on social media, none of whom have responded to the message – although it was ‘liked’ by Davinson Sanchez – but some former colleagues have reacted positively.
Erik Lamela, sold by the North Londoners this summer, wrote: “Whoever knows you knows what kind of professional you are. Keep your mind as always my friend.”
And Joe Hart, who completed a move to Celtic this week, responded: “Top pro above all H.”
Kane, who made a pit-stop to Florida after his post-Euro 2020 holiday to the Bahamas, will more than likely be unavailable for the Lilywhites’ Premier League opener at home to Manchester City next weekend, even if he’s still at the club by then.
The England international, who won the Premier League’s golden boot last season, will have to isolate for a period before returning to full training at Hotspur Way, according to The Telegraph.
