Miss Chihuahua Town beauty pageant sees pooches compete to be crowned ‘most beautiful’

The Miss Chihuahua Town beauty pageant has been held in the sleepy town of Yardley Gobion, Northamptonshire.

The competition saw 800 Chihuahuas battle it out to be crowned “most beautiful”.

The pint-sized pooches, who were from all over the UK, donned fancy ‘designer’ outfits as they competed for the crown.

The dogs also strutted their stuff on the red carpet as they showed off their walks.

Chihuahua Twiglet, who was wearing a full-body pink pom-pom, stole the show and was crowned ‘Miss Chihuahua Town’ at the event.

Twiglet was awarded a beautiful glitzy Crown and huge 3ft Rosette.

Meanwhile, Chiweenie Beanie, a chihuahua-dachshund cross, won the top prize in the fancy dress category for her party hat, multi-coloured wig and sunglasses.

The event was organised by Kerry Brooks, who runs events for all breeds, under her ‘DogTown’ brand.

Other activities at the pageant included a cheese run challenge, where the dogs run as fast as they can down a lane while eating pieces of cheese lined up along the route.

The website describes the event as “Glitz, glamour, music, backdrops, live commentary and tons of sparkle”.

No experience is required for dogs to take part in the event, however all dogs must be “dressed:, according to the rules.

Entries open to Chihuahua & Chihuahua crosses and cost £6.50 per dog. Those who want to enter must pre-book their dog in though.

Each judge marks entrants on four categories out of ten points. Winners were determined by the highest totals.

One Chihuahua who may not find themselves entered into the competition anytime soon is ‘demonic’ Chihuahua, Prancer.

The dog hit headlines earlier this year as his foster owner tried to find the two-year-old a forever home to go to.

Tyfanee Fortuna, from New Jersey, shared an ad that went viral as people were left giggling over it.
