HOLLYWOOD star John Ritter was married to actress Amy Yasbeck for four years.

The pair first met at director Dennis Dugan’s house during a read-through of their 1990 movie Problem Child.

Who is John Ritter’s wife Amy Yasbeck?

Amy Yasbeck is an American actress best known for her role as Casey Chappel Davenport on the sitcom Wings.

She also played the role of the mermaid Madison in the television film Splash, Too.

Yasbeck has since guest-starred in various TV shows and films such as Pretty Woman, The Mask, Problem Child I and II, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

The actress also starred in the soap opera Days of Our Lives as Olivia Reed and was a contestant on the syndicated version of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? back in 2010.

When did John Ritter marry Amy Yasbeck?

Ritter and Yasbeck tied the knot in September of 1999 at the Murphy Theatre in Wilmington, Ohio.

They had starred in various roles together, even playing her estranged husband on the sitcom Wings.

A year before tying the knot, Yasbeck and Ritter had one child together, Noah.

According to Heavy, Noah is transgendered and was originally named Stella before his transition.

What happened to John Ritter?

Yasbeck was widowed in 2003 after Ritter suffered an aortic dissection in his heart primarily due to an undiagnosed congenital defect.

Ritter had fallen into a coma while rehearsing for 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and was rushed to the hospital by paramedics.

He passed away that same night just six days before his 55th birthday.

Yasbeck filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center and the doctors who treated him, alleging that they misdiagnosed Ritter’s condition.

The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court for $9.4million.

When will ABC air Superstar: John Ritter?

On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 10pm ET, ABC will air a special series honoring celebrities “who shaped American culture.”

Ritter’s life and career will be featured on the show, among celebrities like Kobe Bryant and Whitney Houston.

His episode will feature interviews with Ritter’s family and several of his colleagues.

The special will also air on Hulu for those with a paid subscription.
