TAKE a peek at the Impeachment: American Crime Story cast versus the scandal’s real-life celebrities, which also features Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp.
Ahead of its premiere on September 7th on FX, the Impeachment: American Crime Story has revisited ex-president Bill Clinton’s affair with his intern Monica Lewinsky, who was then 22-year-olds at the time.
Linda, the civil servant who played a major part in the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, will be played by Sarah, 46.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the American Horror Story actress admitted that she regretted putting on a fat suit for the role.
She said: “There’s a lot of controversy around actors and fat suits, and I think that controversy is a legitimate one. I think fat phobia is real.
“I think to pretend otherwise causes further harm and it is a very important conversation to be had.”
PLAYING MONICA
Booksmart actress Beanie Feldstein, 28, will play Monica’s character on the show.
Beanie told People: “They don’t know the person, they don’t know the human that had to go through a very traumatic, overwhelming experience at 21 to 24 years old.
“I really hope that people are exposed to her humanity in a different light by watching this show.”
Emerging as an anti-bullying activist Monica was also a contributor and one of the producers on the FX drama.
Back in August, the former White House intern told Vanity Fair: “People have been co-opting and telling my part in this story for decades.
“In fact, it wasn’t until the past few years that I’ve been fully able to reclaim my narrative.”
THE CLINTONS
Sin City actor Clive Owen, 56, will play the role of the former president, who witnessed the drama escalate when Sarah’s Linda Tripp exposed the secret affair.
In the 10-episode arc, Sopranos actress Eddie Falco will play Bill’s wife Hillary Clinton, 58, who watched as the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal dominate the news cycle in ’98.
THE OTHER PLAYERS
Analeigh Ashford has landed the role of Paula Jones, 54, who sued Clinton for sexual harassment.
Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam plays Steve Jones, Paula’s ex-husband from 1991 through 1999.
Justified actress Margot Martindale will be seen as Lucianne Goldberg, the literary agent who taped the former White House intern while she talked about an alleged affair with President Clinton, according to the Washington Post.
Cobie Smulders is playing Ann Coulter, the conservative media pundit. The Avengers actress replaced Betty Gilpin due to coronavirus-related scheduling conflicts, per Variety.
THE SHOW
Created by Running With Scissors director Ryan Murphy, the show is based on former New Yorker writer Jeffrey Toobin’s book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
The FX series will spotlight Monica’s side of the story and will include her infamous thong flash.
Ryan told The Hollywood Reporter: “I told her, ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do.'”
Season three of American Crime Story: Impeachment will air on FX, September 7, 2021, at 10pm EST.
