A bride has been left seething after her future mother-in-law insisted on wearing her own wedding dress to their special day – refusing to back down and even calling the bride a “skank.”
Wearing white to a wedding is a well-known faux pas that can land you in boiling water.
But an appalled bride-to-be has hit out at her future mother-in-law for her shocking plan that goes one step further and risks throwing a spanner in the works for the whole wedding.
The mother-in-law has decided not only to wear white to her son’s special day but also to wear a wedding dress.
She plans on wearing her own gown from when she tied the knot with the groom’s father.
Understandably, the bride has posted on social media begging for advice, admitting she is “at an absolute loss for words.”
“What do I even say here please help me,” she pleaded.

The post was then shared on Reddit, with one horrified user calling the groom’s mother the “worst MIL I’ve ever seen” and the “Wicked Witch of the Wedding.”
The bride shared screenshots of their text exchange, where she initially asked her mother-in-law what type of dress she had purchased for the wedding.
“I’m sure it’s stunning on you!” she added in an attempt to keep things breezy.
But the mother-in-law rudely replied: “You have already seen it.
“Did I not show you my wedding album last weekend?” she asked before sending a picture of the white gown laid out on the floor.
The bride tentatively replied: “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but you’re planning on wearing your wedding dress to our wedding?
“We could help you find a similar one that fits our planned colors instead!”
But the mother-in-law lost her temper and erupted into some nasty name-calling.
“Do not play these games with me, you skank,” she wrote back.
“It is MY son’s wedding, and I am paying for over half of it.
“I will wear whatever f***ing dress I please, and if you have something to say about it… well, good luck to your family because Lord knows they are too poor to afford it, seeing as I am already paying for more than half.
“Don’t you dare even think about trying to ruin this moment for me,” she warned.
“You know the rest of my children will not get married in my lifetime, and this is the only wedding of my children that I will be a part of.”
Reddit users were horrified, with one commenting: “Every guest will be there looking at the mil and wondering wtf is wrong with her… It still sucks, but I feel like it just outs the wearer as psycho to all her friends and family”.
Another added: “I think if my MIL called me a skank, I’d be declining to contact her ever again.”
And third wrote: “Either MIL is banned from the wedding or there is no wedding.”
Others demanded she calls off the wedding altogether if her husband-to-be did not stand up to his mother and ban her from the wedding.
