Danny Murphy has hailed the ‘massive potential’ of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, amid speculation about a move to Liverpool.

According to 90 Min, Liverpool have made contact with Wolves about bringing the 21-year-old to Anfield.

Neto set Wanderers back some £18 million in 2019 but this is a player who is going from strength to strength in the Premier League.

And although Murphy claims that he certainly has the ability to play for a stronger Premier League side, the former Liverpool midfielder believes that staying at Molineux in the short term makes sense.

He told The Daily Mail: “Capable of playing at a club challenging nearer the top of the league, but he’s only 21 and staying at Wolves for another season isn’t a bad thing for him.

“I really like this lad, he can play on the right or left, has super skill, pace and can score goal. He is so direct and has massive potential. Though Wolves struggled last season, he remained a threat.”

Liverpool move?

Well, it’s definitely credible.

Jurgen Klopp needs another left-sided winger because Xherdan Shaqiri and Takumi Minamino look unlikely to be on Merseyside beyond the end of the transfer window.

And although there’s talk of Harvey Elliott being a covering option out wide for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Klopp could really do with somebody a bit more experienced than the 18-year-old.

But the trail on Neto has gone cold in recent weeks, with there now being little to no speculation about a switch to Liverpool

But with three weeks left in the transfer window, nothing can be ruled out.
