Danny Murphy thinks Arsenal have signed the ‘perfect athlete’

Ben White has been described as a ‘perfect athlete’ with ‘all the tools’ to be a massive hit at Arsenal this season and beyond.

Arsenal splashed £50 million on signing the 23-year-old defender from Brighton & Hove Albion.

This is the most amount of money that the Gunners have ever spent on a defender and considering that the North Londoners’ problem under Mikel Arteta last season was scoring goals rather than conceding them, there’s been debate over whether such an expensive signing for that position was needed.

Nevertheless, he is at the Emirates Stadium now and Danny Murphy has claimed that he will prove an ‘excellent signing’ for the North Londoners.

He told The Daily Mail: “Looks an excellent signing for Arsenal, regardless of the £50m price tag. I first saw White play live when he was on loan at Leeds and noticed him right away because he was a perfect athlete who was comfortable on the ball. He has all the tools to be a brilliant player for Arsenal, and England.”

Impact

The England international offered up a glimpse of his impact in a friendly defeat by Chelsea last weekend during his debut, producing one goal-saving block.

And with Arsenal taking on Tottenham Hotspur today in another friendly, White can certainly do more to convince any doubtful supporters that he belongs at the club.

His competitive debut could come against Brentford in the Gunners’ Premier League opener in five days.
