DERRY Girls fans are convinced Nadine Coyle will make an epic cameo in season three after spotting a major clue on Twitter.
Season three filming was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic but actor Ian McElhinney, who plays Granda Joe, has confirmed this week that production will finally start in September.
While this was exciting news for Derry Girls fans on its own, one lover of the show has now spotted a ‘clue’ that suggests Girls Aloud star Nadine will be part of the third series.
The singer, 36, took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote: “Hi lovely ones!!! I’m so sorry I can’t do the September 4th show!
“I’m filming a tv show in Ireland & due to COVID regulations I can’t travel back & forth to see you!! I’m doing a lot of shows between now & Christmas & I hope I get to see you soon!!”
The fan immediately connected the two pieces of information and tweeted: “Guys I think we’re getting Nadine Coyle in Derry Girls.”
However, another fan shot down the theory by sharing a link to a news article that revealed Nadine would be a panelist on a new RTE talent show fronted by Westlife’s Nicky Byrne.
They tweeted above the link: “As much as I need to see this – I think it’s this show she’s filming with Nicky Byrne.”
It’s been two years since Derry Girls season two aired, and fans are eager for the next instalment.
In a recent interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Ian said filming would begin at the end of September.
He added that the cast and crew hoped to finish in time for Christmas so series three could be released in early 2022.
However, Channel 4 is yet to officially confirm when series three will begin production or when it will air.
Derry Girls series 1 and 2 are available on All4 now.
