‘General Hospital’ Star Steve Burton Reveals Surprising News

Actor Steve Burton has been front-and-center on General Hospital for the past few months. Unfortunately, that may have to change for a bit. The actor, who portrays Jason Morgan, surprised fans with some unfortunate news Friday afternoon. Luckily, he won’t be off-the-grid for long though.

Steve Burton Faces Scheduling Changes

Coastal Entertainment’s Instagram page shared a video where Burton explained the need to cancel the next few “Stone Cold and Jackal” shows. These shows are ones that Burton and his good pal Bradford Anderson (Spinelli on General Hospital) do to connect with fans.

The Instagram post noted work was underway to work on rescheduling the shows. It appeared this affected a handful of venues in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

The General Hospital Star Tested Positive For COVID-19

Why the postponements? It turns out, Burton tested positive for COVID-19. That means he has to isolate for a while, which might affect filming for General Hospital.

“I was exposed at work, I tested Wednesday, I tested negative, and then I wanted to take another test before I got on an airplane to be safe to come out and see you guys, and then I tested positive,” Burton explained.

He noted he was really “bummed,” especially since these dates were pushed out once before. Luckily, Burton added, “I feel fine, I have no symptoms, other than being really bummed that we can’t see you guys.”

Will This Impact Burton’s Storyline As Jason?

General Hospital fans may wonder if this affects Jason’s storyline. Given that Burton would have been on the East Coast to do these shows with Anderson, it’s possible this doesn’t affect General Hospital at all. The isolation required over the COVID-19 test result may be time Burton would be away from the set anyway.

This is not the first time a General Hospital cast member has tested positive. Last year, Kelly Monaco also had a positive test result. Former Passions star Lindsay Hartley took over as Sam McCall as Monaco isolated at home.

For now, fans will have to stay tuned to see if the writers need to make any changes regarding Jason. The good news is Burton feels fine so far and will probably be back to work soon. There is no doubt General Hospital viewers will be eager to know when he’s able to return to the set.
