Jeremy Kyle hit with backlash after revealing he had depression after show was axed

Jeremy Kyle is facing a backlash after telling how he suffered depression when his show was axed.

He whined he had been “cancelled” and “felt hunted” when the show was axed following the suspected suicide of guest Steve Dymond.

Former top prosecutor Nazir Afzal, who brought the Rochdale sex grooming gang to justice, said: “Cancelled? Didn’t someone commit suicide following an appearance on his show?

“Cancelled? “Isn’t he getting a national radio show? Nah, he’s not been cancelled.’’

MP John Nicolson said: “I’ve been silenced. Let me tell you all about it in my new three hour radio show.’’

One web user said: “Anyone who makes a career out of making others feel awful about themselves doesn’t really deserve to be heard.”

And another wrote: “Jeremy Kyle saying ‘I’ve been cancelled’ on a radio show talking about his own new radio show is rich isn’t it? Kyle made ‘entertainment’ out of humiliating vulnerable people – including one who took their own life.’’

And one said: “God, he’s vile.”

Construction worker Steve died of a morphine overdose after flunking a lie detector test about cheating on his fiancée. Kyle had branded the 63-year-old a “serial liar”.

Now Kyle – who has landed talkRADIO’s afternoon drive-time show – has complained about how hard the show’s cancellation had been on him.

The 56-year-old said: “It’s been awful to feel so scapegoated. I was just the face of it. I couldn’t defend myself and I couldn’t change anything.”
