An older statement from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar recently resurfaced, revealing that they may have been lying about Josh’s investigation. As Duggar fans know, Josh was arrested for the possession of child sexual abuse material (child pornography). Right now, he is awaiting his trial, which is on November 30.
In the meantime, Josh’s attorneys are building their defense, which has led to new information about the case surfacing. His team recently asked for the charges to be cleared and the statements to be suppressed.
Now, more details about the investigation have surfaced too, revealing that Jim Bob and Michelle may have known more than they let on.
What did Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar lie about?
Now that more information is public, it’s clear that Jim Bob and Michelle were attempting to hide the investigation on their family blog. In November 2019, news broke that Jim Bob and Michelle’s home was being raided. They specifically state that they didn’t know that any member of their family was under investigation. At the same time, Josh was under investigation.
In a blog post on November 20, 2019, Jim Bob and Michelle wrote:
“We were shocked to see a news report today state that our home was raided by federal law enforcement agencies. This is not true. To the best of our knowledge, it’s also not true that any member of our family is the target of any investigation of any kind. Living a life in the public’s eye has taught us that it is best not to reply to every rumor and piece of ‘fake news’ that is circulated online. It would be a full-time job if we attempted to do so. However, because of tonight’s media coverage we thought it is important to address this rumor with you. Thank you for the love and support that we can always count on in you our fans and friends.”
On Instagram, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball shared the post with her followers. Critics are discussing the lie that Jim Bob and Michelle may have told. One user writes, “They seem to have selective memories. They knew darn well what was going on.”
Others say, “It’s a flat out lie.”
One user argues the raid wasn’t at the Duggar family’s home. But Josh was under investigation, so the family did lie in that part of the post.
