Joni Mitchell applauded at dinner with Clive Davis

Folk-rock legend Joni Mitchell, 77, received “tasteful applause” when she arrived at a private dinner hosted by Clive Davis at Spago in Beverly Hills earlier this week.

As the “Case of You” singer entered, patrons “pulled out their iPhones and a tasteful applause erupted,” a spy told Page Six.

Mitchell’s manager Peter Asher, Flyte Time producer Jimmy Jam — who has sampled Mitchell’s music on songs such as Janet Jackson’s “Got ’til It’s Gone” — and WME partner Richard Weitz were among the group of eight at Davis’ table.

But all eyes were on Mitchell, we hear.

“Joni looked absolutely radiant, tan in a black floral patterned dress. It was great to see her looking so great and smiling all night as patrons discreetly took pictures of her and Clive,” our source said.

It was a rare public outing for Mitchell, who told the Guardian last year that she was “just concentrating on getting my health back” after suffering a brain aneurysm in 2015 that “took away my speech and my ability to walk.”

Mitchell has popped up at a few events, most notably Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy parties, since suffering the aneurysm and continuing to recover.

The Recording Academy’s MusiCares Foundation announced it’ll honor Mitchell as its 2022 Person of The Year at their gala on January 29.

“I look forward to being part of this gala that will help MusiCares continue their inspired work in providing a support system for those in need,” Mitchell said.

The classic crooner will also receive the 44th Kennedy Center Honors on December 5.
