Report shares when Tottenham expect Nuno will have 28-year-old in his squad

Tottenham Hotspur do not expect Harry Kane will train under Nuno Espirito Santo for the first time until Thursday after the striker returned late for pre-season, per the Daily Mail.

Spurs afford Kane an extended break in line with his England duties at Euro 2020, but asked the forward to report back last Monday. However, he remained on holiday in the Bahamas before flying to Florida, meaning he had to self-isolate on his return.

Kane is carrying out his isolation period at the Spurs Lodge hotel and will continue to train alone until completion. It is highly likely the 28-year-old will miss Sunday’s Premier League curtain-raiser at home to Manchester City as a result.

Tottenham do not expect Kane to carry out his first-team session with Nuno until Thursday after his isolation period. The Spurs product is yet to speak with his manager, either, having joined the England squad before the Portuguese’s appointment.

Depending on the shape the striker returned to training in, Nuno could feel he is fit to compete this weekend. But he must also assess Kane’s mental state, as the Tottenham talisman wants to join Manchester City this summer.

Kaveh Solhekol also told Sky Sports last week that Kane is at war with Tottenham over his desires to leave. Manchester City want to sign the forward, but Spurs have no interest in letting him go. The Daily Mail give just a 10% chance of them agreeing a summer transfer.

Kane and Nuno’s talks a critical stage of striker’s Tottenham future

Kane’s talks with Nuno will go a long way in deciding if he both stays at Tottenham this summer and faces Manchester City on Sunday. He will, for the first time, hear what Jose Mourinho’s successor has in store and where he fits his plans.

Nuno may be able to convince Kane to stay at Tottenham for at least one more season. But the forward not returning to group training until Thursday should rule him out of Sunday’s curtain-raiser with Manchester City.

Nuno would ask a lot of Kane to shelve his Manchester City desires and operate at his best for Tottenham. Obviously, the forward is a top professional who has given Spurs his all in the past, but this summer’s different. Especially after appearing to go on strike last week.
