Restaurant is on the hunt for roast potato taster – and you could earn £500

Listen up, foodies.

You could now be paid to eat roast dinners.

The Botanist, a bar and restaurant chain, is on the hunt to find a “Pro-tato Tester”.

A successful applicant will be paid £200 an hour to sample roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and meat before they’re approved to be sold to the public.

An advert on the company’s reads: “If you know what makes a special spud or a how-to build roast worth a boast, then we have got the perfect weekend job for you!

“We’re on the hunt for a paid roast reviewer who will make sure our new sharing roast is always share-worthy!”

Who wouldn’t want to eat roast potatoes for a living?

The role has been specifically created to road test The Botanist’s new “family-style sharing roasts”.

As the name would suggest, it consists of a lot of different dishes that groups can dive into.

They have the option of picking from four meats – sirloin beef, chicken, lamb shoulder or pork belly – or a vegan celeriac, mushroom and pearl barley wellington.

These include including Yorkshire puddings, maple-glazed carrots crispy parmesan cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, creamed cabbage and stuffing balls.

So how can you apply to the tasty-sounding job?

The restaurant is holding a tasting session on September 19.

Applicants are required to write a 500-word review of the roast dinner.

They are also expected to create a sharp video for TikTok or Instagram, which shouldn’t exceed 60 seconds in length.

The successful candidate will be paid £500, which is equivalent to £200 per hour.

They will also be able to redeem a monthly roast for two people.
