Roy Keane has said on ITV (5pm, August 7, 2021) that James Maddison should not leave Leicester City for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The former Manchester United midfielder believes that Arsenal are not the best option for Maddison at the moment.
The ITV pundit has said that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder should stay where he is now, if Arsenal are his only option.
Keane said about Maddison on ITV (5pm, August 7, 2021): “If he is leaving Leicester, I don’t think Arsenal are the best option for him, might be the only option, but if I was him, I would sit tight.”
Arsenal have been linked with Leicester playmaker Maddison.
Sky Sports reported this week that the Gunners want to sign the England international, who himself is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Leaving Leicester City for Arsenal
Leicester have won the Premier League title more recently than Arsenal have.
The Foxes have also gone close to finishing in the Premier League top four for the past two seasons.
Arsenal will not even play in the Europa League this season and will not challenge for the Premier League title.
However, Arsenal are a massive club and are a global brand.
The chance to play for the Gunners is tempting for any footballer.
The North London club are in a rebuilding phase now, and the chance to take them back to their glory days and become a hero could be very appealing to Maddison.
