Keith Downie has told Good Morning Transfers (09/08/21 at 9:50 am) that Newcastle are ‘set to net a 40% profit’ from Adam Armstrong’s potential transfer to Southampton.
After running amock in England’s second-tier last season with Blackburn, Armstrong is heading for a return after his club agreed on a £15-17 million fee with Southampton.

Armstrong came through the ranks at Newcastle, but was handed the game time by those in charge at the time and was eventually sold for £1.8 million.
But after scoring 28 goals for Blackburn last season, he is now being snapped by the Saints, who last Danny Ings to Aston Villa, as Downie shares how this affects Newcastle.
“Adam Armstrong, it’s my understanding that a fee has been agreed between his club Blackburn and Southampton this morning,” said Downie.
“It’s been pretty clear that Armstrong has been looking to try something new. He has been terrific in the Championship. 29 goals last season. He deserves his chance.
“With regards to Newcastle in that, they get a 40% sell-on fee from any profit. He was sold by then-Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez to Blackburn for £1.8 million three years ago.
“I don’t know the exact fee, it’s around about the £15-17 million. Newcastle set to net a 40% profit from that £1.8 million sale. Good news for Southampton, they have got their man. And good news for Newcastle.”
