The Guardian are reporting that Chelsea are signing Romelu Lukaku instead of Harry Kane because they see the Inter Milan striker as ‘more attainable’ than the Tottenham Hotspur star.

What’s the story?

It is being reported that Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Inter to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.

The 2021 Champions League winners will pay Italian champions Inter over €115m (£97.5m) in transfer fee.

The report has claimed that Chelsea are signing the 28-year-old former Manchester United striker and not Kane from Tottenham because he is ‘seen as a more attainable target’.

Harry Kane to Chelsea was always unlikely

Sky Sports reported interest from Chelsea in Kane back in May, but it was always unlikely that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would sell arguably the best striker in the Premier League to the Blues.

After all, Tottenham and Chelsea are bitter London and Premier League rivals.

Moreover, Levy wants £160 million as transfer fee for the 28-year-old England international striker, according to The Telegraph.

Lukaku is going to cost Chelsea more than £60 million less.

Furthermore, Lukaku is a former Chelsea player who knows the club and will feel that he has unfinished business there.
