A BRITISH man has drowned in the city of Alicante on the Costa Blanca.

The 40-year-old is said to have gotten himself into trouble after going swimming after a row with his partner.

According to unconfirmed local reports, he had been drinking before entering the sea.

Around 5 p.m., the alarm was sounded. When a fisherman saw him floating in the water at 30 p.m., he brought him to the shore.

Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene, and CPR was administered to the British citizen.

Unfortunately, their efforts to save him were in vain, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.

The tragedy occurred yesterday afternoon off Albufereta beach, a popular spot for Alicante residents located a short drive north-west of the city center. A local court has opened an investigation and is awaiting a police report.
