Celebs pay tribute to Golden Girls star Betty White after she dies aged 99

The sad news of Golden Girls actress Betty White’s death rocked Hollywood this evening as it was revealed she sadly passed away just weeks before her 100th birthday.

The actress was best known for her role in The Golden Girls as well as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Hot in Cleveland.

Betty’s agent Jeff Witjas confirmed the sad news to PEOPLE, saying in a statement: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever.

“I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”

And many celebrities also paid tribute to the icon online.
