Justin Bieber reveals he was suicidal before marrying wife Hailey

JUSTIN BIEBER and his wife Hailey are trying for a baby after he overcame mental health battles that left him suicidal.

In my exclusive first look at the singer’s new Amazon Prime documentary Justin Bieber: Our World, he talks in intimate self-shot footage about his hopes.

After model Hailey asks him about his aims for 2021, he says: “To continue to set goals and have fun doing them, make sure I put family first.

“And hopefully we will squish out a nugget.” As Hailey smiles, he adds: “At the end of 2021 how about we start trying?”

After being shot to the stratosphere at 16 with debut album Baby and his mega-hit of the same name, Justin struggled to cope with global fame.

He says: “Being an entertainer can be very self-serving if you let it, because everyone is screaming for you and you’ve got to constantly go back to the ‘why?’ ‘Why am I singing for all these people? Is it because I want to feel good about myself? Or to make others feel good about themselves?’.”

In last year’s YouTube documentary, he told how he hit rock bottom, leaving him “really, really suicidal” and in “constant pain”.

But after taking time out to focus on what matters in life, the man I saw before me in Our World has never looked better and more grounded.

He adds: “In my home growing up, a lot of things were unpredictable and that made things unreliable. Now I have a partner to spend the rest of my life with. It’s been really good for my mental health, heart and spirit.

“We could be travelling all across the world and if I’m with her I feel like I am home.”

Hinting he is not yet ready to give up life in the spotlight, Justin says: “My home life is so taken care of, I just feel like I can do anything when it comes to my job.”

The TV special focuses on his return to the stage last year after being booked for a rooftop gig at LA’s Beverly Hilton Hotel — his first full-length show in three years.

In March, his latest album Justice made No1 in the US and No2 here.

Featuring a host of collabs including with The Kid Laroi and Khalid, it spawned hits Hold On, Anyone and Peaches — which inspired him to release his own range of pre-rolled joints of the same name in California, where cannabis is legal.

After more success in a couple of decades than the rest of us enjoy in a lifetime, and a rough few years, it’s great to see a new, stronger and more focused Justin.

Boyleing point

WHEN Jesy Nelson announced plans to step away from Little Mix to focus on her mental health, she deserved every sympathy and understanding.

Anybody would need a break after ten years at the top of the charts while also battling their own demons – and I thought she had made the right call.

In her latest missive with Glamour magazine, Jesy confirms my story that she and the girls no longer communicate at all

But rather than quietly take some time out, Jesy opted to immediately launch a solo career – and is now heavily promoting her comeback record, Boyz, with a series of photo shoots and interviews.

And far from wanting to forget about her time in the pop band, she barely shuts up about them.

In her latest missive with Glamour magazine, Jesy confirms my story that she and the girls no longer communicate at all – in fact, as I revealed, they speak entirely through lawyers and third parties.

She says: “I haven’t spoken to the girls. It is weird because for so many years we were as close as sisters, together every hour of the day for weeks, sharing beds, laughing, crying, just 24/7 the four of us together and then, nothing.”

Adding that she hasn’t met Perrie Edwards’ son Axel or Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s twins since their births in August, she explains: “I’ve sent a few texts, but that’s it. I can’t explain it, it’s like there has to be this distance.

“We were so close so you can’t do in-between, there has to be space and hopefully at some point in the future we can all come back together.”

I wouldn’t bank on it – Jesy has done nothing but slag off her old mates since she quit the girl band in December. While Little Mix have maintained a dignified silence since their statement wishing her all the best.

By all means step away and try something new, but grumbling endlessly about the time with the bandmates who helped turn you into a national superstar – not to mention a multi-millionaire – is starting to feel a bit naff.

It’s time Jesy focused on her own thing and left the girls to do theirs.

Ed and Elton eye Christmas number 1

PALS Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John are teaming up to get the coveted Christmas No1.

The pair will take on LadBaby, with the YouTube sensation having reached the top spot for three years in a row with a sausage roll-themed songs for charity.

But Elton and Ed, who last got the Christmas No1 in 2017 with Perfect, seem like the biggest threat to ending that run.

Asked by a radio station in the Netherlands if he would do a festive single, Ed said: “If you wait two months, you’ll see. There’s something coming in December and it’s f***ing great. I spoke to Elton this morning, I spoke to him yesterday morning, I speak to him almost every day.

“He rang me on Christmas Day and said, ‘Step Into Christmas is No6 in the charts and I’m 74 and I’m still having fing chart hits. I want to do another Christmas song, will you do it with me?’”

Ed said of the tune: “It’s just me and him. It’s great.”

With Ed currently at No1 with Shivers and Elton at No2 with Cold Heart, they are both on fire. I can’t see anyone beating them.

Kylie and Olly trade places

KYLIE Minogue had Years and Years’ Olly Alexander Spinning Around while impersonating each other for their new video.

They traded places in the clip for A Second To Midnight, the first track taken from her album Disco: Guest List Edition, which is due out on November 12.

Kylie premiered the video yesterday as she confirmed she is moving back to Australia after 30 years in the UK.

The singer told Zoe Ball on Radio 2: “It is true I’ll be basing myself in Australia but I can’t believe the reaction it’s had.

“I’ve been talking about that for a while but don’t worry, I will not be a stranger.”

Kylie hinted that there will be a new tour next year to support her album.

She added: “I am dreaming of doing dates. We are inching closer towards being able to doing something like that.”

Gemma’s being baby brave

GEMMA COLLINS is planning to have IVF after failing to conceive.

The reality star, who earlier this year reconciled with her ex-fiancé, entrepreneur Rami Hawash, said they are ready to start a family because she has loved being a step-mum to his three-year-old son.

Speaking about IVF on her BBC podcast, Gemma said: “I really want a baby now. I’ve not been using any contraception but I can’t get pregnant.

“So I’m going to have to be brave now and go and look into this myself.

“It just feels like sometimes, ‘When’s it gonna happen? Why me?’.”

Liam and Noel top of the lots

LIAM GALLAGHER’s tambourine and a football shirt worn by his brother NOEL during their Oasis heyday are going up for action.

Liam’s instrument, which was used on the recording of their 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory is expected to make £500 when it goes under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers’ Music Memorabilia Auction on November 2.

Noel’s shirt, which he wore for a charity football game in 1996 is expected to fetch over £1500.

Another top worn by guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs is expected to make £1000.

Fans of the band should definitely check it out.

Sam Fischer rocks debut show

THIS City singer Sam Fischer smashed his debut headline show at The Garage in London on Tuesday night – the same venue Harry Styles played his first solo concert.

The musician, who teamed up with Demi Lovato for his song What Other People Say, will release new single Hopeless Romantic later this month.

Rod’s up all fright

ROD STEWART is so worried wife Penny Lancaster will get hurt while out on patrol as a special constable, he stays up all night until she tells him she has clocked off.

He said: “I don’t sleep when she’s out on the beat, until I know she’s safe in the car.”

Penny began training as an officer in the City of London in 2019 and has now completed a series of night shifts on the front line.

She said of the work: “You feel like you will make a difference every day if it’s tangible, you have got your feet on the ground, you are interacting with the public, you are dealing with whatever comes your way.”
