Kathy Hilton discussed raising her two daughters, Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton Rothschild, in New York City and the fears she dealt with while doing so.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kathy Hilton appeared on Bruce Bozzi’s SiriusXM podcast, “Lunch with Bruce,” and revealed what life was like navigating her daughters Paris and Nicky’s early fame.
The socialite admitted she was very worried about her older daughter and her nights out in New York as she started partying in nightclubs when she was a teenager.
Kathy had genuine fears for her daughter during that time, and so did Paris’s father, Rick Hilton. While Rick would eventually be able to fall asleep, Kathy had many sleepless nights waiting for her daughter to return home.
She confided in Bozzi and shared that although the media and paparazzi made the experience worse, sometimes the media outlets, namely the New York Post, would help her locate her daughter. She explained:
“I would call the city desk and say at one in the morning, ‘Excuse me, hi, it’s Kathy Hilton. Uh, do you by any chance know Paris, where she is right now?'”
She recalled that the city desk at the New York Post would inform her on where Paris was last seen. Some weekends were worse than others, as Paris could be missing for two whole days while she was out partying.
Besides worrying about Paris partying as a teenager, Kathy was apprehensive about raising her daughters in New York as it was not what she had in mind for her children.
…she told an “Extra” correspondent that she would be a strict parent to her future daughter,…
Furthermore, Kathy believed that Paris would become a veterinarian as she had love animals. In fact, the Paris that the tabloids knew was much different to the Paris who arrived in New York as a tomboy.
Kathy reasoned that her daughter’s change and fame was partly due to journalists who would see two beautiful girls with a famous last name and then write articles about them, stating:
“I think with two girls, attractive with a very famous last name, people just started to, [journalists like] Graydon Carter, [would write] 12 pages [on them].”
The now-proud mother explained that the exposé about her daughters was written without her knowledge, so she was very angry about the whole situation.
Although raising two teenagers in New York came with many worries, that is now 20 years behind the Hilton family, and they are focused on many other different things.
Paris recently released a Netflix show called “Cooking with Paris” and a YouTube documentary, “This Is Paris.” Her next TV project is a series about her upcoming wedding to Carter Reum called “Paris In Love.”
The iconic reality star is also looking forward to having children, although she told an “Extra” correspondent that she would be a strict parent to her future daughter, whom she has already named London.
