Little Mix look likely to split up following their explosive fall out with former bandmate Jesy Nelson over her ‘blackfishing’ controversy.
The Shout Out To My Ex hitmakers have been making music together since they first formed on The X Factor in 2011.
However the band were left fragmented after Jesy quit the group following mental health issues in December 2020 and now they are reportedly pursuing separate projects.
Jesy’s departure left remaining band members Perrie Edwards, Leigh -Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall with some difficult decisions to make.
Now, according to the Sun on Sunday the band are set to announce they are splitting up in just a couple of weeks time.
A source said: “There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Little Mix but it is now very clear that the end of the road has been reached.
It is also suggested the band will formally break the news to their fans next month.
A source also said: “Some of them have already done management deals. Leigh-Anne has signed up with Dua Lipa’s manager, Jade is cutting her teeth as a songwriter and presenter, while Perrie is working on other things too.”
A representative of the band has been contacted for comment.
Jesy was accused of cultural appropriation following the release of her debut solo single, Boyz.
The accompanying video pays tribute to the early naughties music videos of rap and RnB singers – but fans accused Jesy of attempting to appropriate black culture and history for her own gain.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock was also dragged into the mix after a TikTok user named NoHun shared a direct message she allegedly sent to him urging him to “do a video about [Jesy] being a blackfish”.
Jesy told Vulture last weekend: “I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t.
“But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on.”
Nicki Minaj who collaborated on the song tried to defend her by calling the other Little Mix members ‘clowns’.
