Model who ‘married herself’ says Arab Sheikh offered £365k to wed him instead

A Brazilian model who “married herself” after growing tired of relying on men has revealed that an “Arab Sheikh” offered her $500,000 (£365,000) to choose him instead.

Cris Galera used to think she needed to be in a relationship in order to be happy and avoid loneliness.

But after spending some time as a single lady, she realised she can stand on her own two feet.

The 33-year-old revealed: “I reached a point where I matured, I realised that I am a strong and determined woman.

“I was always afraid of being alone, but I realised that I needed to learn to feel good about myself.

“When that happened, I decided to celebrate it.”

Cris dressed up as a bride and posed infant of the Catholic Church in Sao Paolo Brazil.

The model said: “I wanted to highlight my best features, my breasts. I wore a killer neckline.”

But, since the big day she revealed that she’s been getting messages from an internet user asking her to divorce herself and marry him.

Cris explained: “He said in the message that he would offer a dowry of $500,000 (£365,000) to marry him after the divorce.”

The model said that the offer was made by an Arab Sheikh – an honorific often given to a chief or royal family member in the Middle East.

Cris added: “I didn’t believe it.

“He wrote the proposal in English and that was the only way I got it translated. We’ve already talked once, but honestly I’m not for sale.”

The Brazilian beauty also expressed her belief that the proposal was sexist – and she was more surprised by the offer than she was by the many hate comments she received on social media.

She commented: “I was surprised by the messages from haters, but I didn’t imagine I would be taken by surprise by a sexist proposal like this.”

On top of the proposal, the model received a number of trolling messages after announcing her solo-marriage, but said she wouldn’t be taking them to heart.

Cris said: “I decided that I would no longer read the hate comments. People’s opinion will not change what I think or add anything to it.”
