Ska drummer from The English Beat passes away aged 71

SKA Drummer Everett Morton from The English Beat band passed away at 71.

The Birmingham, England band announced Morton’s death on Saturday.

In a tweet, The Beat wrote: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Everett Morton, a beautiful and talented man.

“His family are naturally grieving. Please respect their privacy. RIP Gaffah!”

The ’80s punk band consisted of vocalist and guitarist Dave Wakeling, vocalist Ranking Roger, guitarist Andy Cox, bass player David Steele, Morton, and saxophonist Saxa, aka Lionel Augustus Martin.
